Someone once told me: Time is a flat circle. Everything we’ve ever done, or will do, we’re gonna do over and over and over again.
I was looking up some old photos in the archives and this image. It was taken in 2015, sometime around March or April. I was developing a photo stories about workers in Atlanta. The idea behind the project was revealing the craftsmanship and praising hardworking spirit. I was very inspired by Sebastiao Salgado’s work, one of my favorite photographers.
The entire project was shot on black and white film: Ilford HP5 and Leica M6. That time I still had my Leica, but not having it anymore(another long story). I spent about 8 months shooting this project, you can see it under my project tab: Pursuit the happiness.
For lots of different reasons, I put this project on held after 8 month, and I know it was completed. Four years later today, I decide to do a portrait project about skilled trades. I found this photo and can’t help thinking of the quote from Rust Cohle: “Time is a flat circle. Everything we’ve ever done, or will do, we’re gonna do over and over and over again”.
